Ona, Barcelona, Spain
Ona arrived to Marta’s life, her new mum, the afternoon of the 18th of December 2015. Ona was a gift to a man who was suffering depression due to a delicate health condition, his family thought Ona would bring joy and help for him. The first owner’s health deteriorated, having heart difficulties, and couldn’t take care of her. Those who took the dog from her mum before recommended and bought it, now, were looking for a new home. Marta, casually, was looking to adopt and saw Ona’s story on Facebook. A big, flopsy earred, cute cocker spaniel, in the arms of a blond girl. Marte called the foster family but they had already found a family for Ona. A few days later they called her again, the new family didn’t want her and they offered Ona to Marta. Ona arrived on Friday and it was love at first sight. The door opened and there was the crazy cutie Ona just jumping all around with such excitement. Now, Marte and Ona are totally inseparable; even going to work each day, in a little shop Marta owns. As Marta said “Ona had to be given away because of her first owners heart, and now she was taking Ona because she filled her heart.“

Ava, Barcelona, Spain
Ava was born 7 years ago in a village in the south of Spain. She was separated from her mother just after birth with her sister. Still with their eyes closed and with the umbilical cord still attached, they put the two little puppies in a taped box to make sure the sad end and threw them at the side of a road. Someone saw the taped box and thought it was weird, or maybe a lost parcel, but when they opened it had the biggest surprise. Unfortunately the rescuers couldn’t give them a home but found a lady who agreed to having them in her garden. That seemed a good idea but ended with the puppies alone, with adult dog food and no love. Thanks to the rescue center Apa Pupetc Centre and Paqui, Ava had the best foster home, so loved so spoilt.
Seven years ago we saw her on the internet, she was 4 months old. We fell in love and Ava became part of our crazy dog family.
Ava is still a very anxious and unsure dog. She gets really scared with any noise like gusty winds. Despite her having the worst start to life a dog can have, with the family Ava is always looking for cuddles and being close to whatever you are doing. She has a really beautiful and special little spirit.

Joy, Barcelona, Spain
Joy. My beautiful Joy. I adopted her 4 years ago. She was a hunting dog in the south of Spain, and when she became old they abandoned her in the street. She was alone living in the street after have been working for a hunter all her life. Did you know every February in Spain (end of the hunting season) approx 50.000 greyhounds and podencos are abandoned? A hunting dogs NGO rescued her (Galgos 112) and brought her to Barcelona. I already had Ula then. Ula was just a baby and we thought having another buddy for her would be a good idea. They called me one morning saying: -we found your dog, she is perfect for you.
And absolutely she is. She is sweet and sensitive. Funny and happy. And the best companion for Ula, because she is so patient.
Although having a difficult beginning she is still sweet and trusting in humans. They didn’t deserve her. She is a special spirit!
